Leading with equity operates at both an individual and collective level. Using the Shared Equity Leadership model, this 90-minute session will engage participants in implementing the model throughout their work and involvement in the College Book Art Association. Shared equity leadership (SEL) is a collective process that makes diversity, equity, and inclusion everyone's work rather than the responsibility of one individual or institutional entity. The session will include reflective exercises that help members develop a personal journey toward critical consciousness, shared values among members of a group, and the practices that can be continually enacted to enable shared leadership to thrive.
This session will be led by Cabal + Cairo, a consulting company established by Dr. Victoria Cabal (she/elle) and Dr. Daniel K. Cairo (he/el). Cabal + Cairo provides individuals and organizations with developmental tools to explore where they are and where they would like to be in regards to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Cabal + Cairo is working with the CBAA Board of Directors to meet several key objectives have been identified by the CBAA Anti-racism Change Team (ACT): diversifying membership and leadership, addressing equity and inclusion across policies and practices, and developing a culture where all members feel valued.
Space is limited in these participatory workshops. There will be 30 spaces available in each workshop. We are requesting a $10 commitment to attend these sessions. The money collected from these sessions will be used to support the CBAA Member Support Grants. If you would like to participate, but the fee prevents you from doing so, please email meetings@collegebookart.org for a waiver.
